2SLGBTQIA+ friendly psychotherapy. Secondary assessor for gender affirming surgery (SRS). Support with system navigation.
I’m a Master of Social Work (MSW) graduate and Registered Social Worker (RSW) entitled to practice in the province of Ontario, Canada. I'm a queer person with extensive training in trans and gender diverse healthcare, have trained numerous organizations in fostering 2SLGBTQIA+ Positive Space, and have experience supporting patients in accessing services. I also bring with me personal experience supporting and caring for a loved one who has fully medically transitioned. I strive to create a safe, inclusive, and affirming space for all.
Most of my professional background is in complex mental health, and I have experience supporting people with many concerns, including those related to depression, anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenia, learning disabilities, suicidality, self-esteem, relationships, gender, attraction and more.
I’m qualified to be a secondary assessor for bottom (SRS) affirming surgeries that align with WPATH Standards of Care 8. Not sure where to start with your journey? I'm also able to support you with system navigation to help you identify your goals, options, and local services that can help.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you are interested in booking an appointment. Please note that all of my sessions are virtual (online) only. All appointments are by request. I can usually accommodate evening and weekend appointments.
Please reach out to megan@blairccs.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
I pull from many types of therapy including CBT, DBT, ACT, Emotion-Focused, Solution-Focused, and more. Most importantly, I strive to be client centered and hold space for every person I support. I have experience supporting people from all walks of life, and strive to create a safe space focused on growth and healing.
SRS refers to sex reassignment surgery. This is also called bottom or genital surgery. SRS involves surgical procedure(s) to align a person's physical characteristics with their gender identity. Together we can explore what your expectations of surgery are, and review pertinent information on the options available to you.
In Ontario, anyone seeking this type of surgery requires two assessments. The first will be from a doctor or nurse practitioner. The second assessment can be completed by Master's level Registered Social Workers, among other disciplines. The assessor must be experienced and/or knowledgeable of gender-affirming care. The goal of both assessments is to: confirm a persistent diagnosis of gender dysphoria, completion of at least 12 months of hormone therapy (unless contraindicated), and at least 12 months of continuous living as the gender you identify with. During the assessment, you will be asked many questions to get a comprehensive history of your gender journey, overall health, how the surgery will impact your life, and what your recovery plan is. I will also help you with seeking out information that applies to your surgery, ensuring you are aware of the potential risks, benefits, and complications. My goal is to ensure you are able to provide informed consent for your surgery. Following the appointment, I will complete a written assessment. You will have a chance to review it before I submit it to the primary provider who is supporting your surgery application.
You can expect to have a two-hour virtual appointment with me. The report is completed promptly after the appointment. You will have an opportunity to review the report and request changes prior to it being submitted to the clinician supporting your application. To ensure you do not face any delays, I strive to provide the fastest turnaround possible for booking appointments and submitting reports.
The total cost of this service is $400.00. This is in alignment with fees charged by comparable assessors in my field. If you have any questions about this fee, please do not hesitate to ask.
Yes! Congratulations on taking the first step in your journey. I'm able to offer one hour virtual consult sessions for system navigation. I will ask you about your goals, provide information, and support you in locating appropriate healthcare services. Following our time together, I will provide you with a written summary to ensure you have what you need to move forward. The cost of this service is $130.00 per session. Please note: this is not a therapy offering, but I'm happy to guide you in locating a provider for that, too.
I do not have a waitlist. My goal is to provide you with an appointment offering as soon as possible, at a date and time that works for both of us.
At this time I am not able to offer direct billing. However, I will provide you with a receipt for payment that you can choose to submit to your insurance for review. It is best practice to contact your insurance and inquire about what is covered prior to your appointment.
To avoid potential cancellation fees, please provide minimum 24 hours notice. My late cancellation/no show fee is $130.00.
